Welcome Insiders: Getting to Know You

Thank you for declaring your allegiance.

Whether you joined for a free book preview, to be notified of future projects, for fun giveaways or because you love historical/medieval romance . . . thank you.

In addition to researching my favorite time period and creating stories with alpha males and strong women for them to clash with, my favorite aspect of being a romance writer is interacting with readers. To get to know you a bit better, mentally mark your answers to each “This or That” and leave a comment introducing yourself and/or your answers below.

Inspiration for Sir Geoffrey from Thief’s (left) or Sir Adam from Ward’s (right)

Inspiration for Sir Bryce from Lord’s (left) or Toren from future book two (right)

A manor house on the Border (Bristol, Ward’s) or a castle by the sea (Kenshire, Thief’s)

So I previously asked different questions in case you’re confused by the comments below. And these are MUCH harder for me since I obviously love them all. But I’ll give it a shot. If forced to choose, it would have to be Sir Adam’s inspiration as well as Toren’s (surprise!) from yet unnamed book two in the Border Series. And while I can’t wait to travel to the English-Scottish border where the Border Series take place this summer (on a Disney Cruise…so excited), I will have to choose a castle by the sea.

OK, now it’s your turn to weigh in. Leave a comment below and let me know what brought you here, how you would answer each “this or that” (including the trick questions).

Good answers! Thank YOU for being here!

    • Denise

OH MY WORD! You have the exact same answers as I was going to write! Even your comment is what I was about to post. We must be twins or something!

I LOVE historical romances as well. And Free, the more the better, but I will purchase books if the price is right!

Can’t wait for more from you Cecelia. I was so bummed to find the Thief’s Countess was a preview. Can’t wait to read the whole book!

      • Cecelia

Maybe we are! Although I’ll admit there aren’t really any wrong answers here, right? LOL Trick questions.

The Thief’s Countess is a preview on instaFreebie but the full novel is for sale on Amazon! And book two is coming in a few months…can’t wait.

        Thanks again for being here!

  • Denise

I LOVE it when an author communicates with their fans. I kind of feel special that they actually respond to you. It really makes their books better for some reason. Maybe being able to actually talk, even if it is over email, with them makes the stories more real.

Thanks for the chance to be a special fan!

    • Cecelia

Denise, I feel the same way! The first time Monica McCarty actually tweeted me back I was even more a fangirl. So I wouldn’t have it any other way. Feel free to reach out ANY time. 🙂

      xoxo

Like most love the freebies, how I found you. I love historical novels. On the questions, hum:: I would have to hear Geoffrey and Adam speak first so it comes down to a tie between them, just turn out the lights and spin me around and I’ll choose with a smile on my face. Of course Toren, not that Bryce, couldn’t give him a real run for his money maybe with longer hair and a bit of hair growth on his chin. Castle on the sea, with either of the four, hahaha and I am not even blushing! The women I always have loved a woman with a bow., but she can always have a good friend or a distance cousin she has met or not(I’m easy and hate to leave anyone out). Yet don’t think I can’t.

    • Cecelia

“Turn out the lights and spin me around.” HA I love it. xoxo

  • Carol Bisig

I haven’t seen any of these shows, read way too much. Will check them out though. I wish I could hear them talk, I like Thief’s, either one truly! Bryce, if he is Scottish, then the other one looks more dark eyes, dark, handsome. Castle. Catrina.

  • Kitrina Thompson

I found you through the freebies! I have to go with Sir Geoffrey, Toren, castle by the sea, and the bow-wielding Countess.

    • Cecelia

Whichever freebies they were Kitrina, I’m glad you’re here! Always trying to find new readers!

  • Adam(those blue eyes are a killer); Toren; definitely a castle by the sea; feisty stubborn lady (only because I have some personal experience!!)

I read a lot!! I read lots of things. . . although I will say I usually skip the ones that are “christian” or “sweet” or “clean”. I like a little (sometimes even a lot!!) of heat and fire!! This time period is one of my favorites, and who can pass up free books. I also like regency era romances and I love time travel books where the women end up in the medieval highlands. The clashes between the sexes become very interesting. Sometimes I dream of having my own highlander!! (I am an Outlander junkie, too!!) Of course I think I am going to have to live to at least 125 to read all that I have on my kindle right now!! Oh well, off to read!!

    • Cecelia

“The medieval hisghlands…” It doesn’t get any better than that! Glad you found your way here!

Give me a medieval Highland book and I am in heaven! I found you in the live broadcast event tonight. : )

  • Crystal Sebring

I came by from your welcome newsletter. I have a bad memory, but think I joined from a Facebook party. I agree with all of your answers! Toren’s look isn’t quite my ideal, but can’t resist a man with long hair. So envious of your getting to see the border lands and go on a Disney cruise! Hope you have a great trip! Looking forward to checking out your books!

    • Cecelia

Thanks Crystal, so glad you stopped by (and took the time to say hello.) It is a dream trip to be sure. 😉

With all that is going on in the world – At times I absolutely need to retreat and rest my soul with people and characters by reading stories about love and honor. I’m enjoying the strong women characters because if we women were the full expression of ourselves we can bring about the changes in the world that we believe in.

    • Cecelia

Totally agree which is what I LOVE about romance, especially historical romance that takes you to another time and place. 🙂

  • well it could be either male
a castle by the sea would be my perfect answe
I like both heroines as they take care of themselves unusual for the past

I am 42 from Canada and currently on disability. I lose all track of time when I find a good book. I am an introvert mostly. I have loved historical romances since I was 10. I love to learn about other cultures and how it was in the past. Thank you for your books as giving me hours of reading again

    • Cecelia

Thank YOU Lucy for taking the time to be here. I’m sorry to hear you are on disability but am so glad you found me. xoxo

  • Being a voracious reader, and writer/photographer by trade (magazine) I find I need time to myself, a place to escape occasionally. I found your Border Series 2 days ago, and couldn’t pull myself away. I even pushed work away for today to finish The Chief’s Maiden. Thank you!!! Thank you for being an easy author to read, one that transports me in to the story.
    As for your questions.
What brought me here? I wanted to connect with the gifted individual that helped me forget some of the troubles in the world for a while.
    Geoffrey
    Toren

    And Sara.

Looking forward to more installments in this series. “Alfred” has a story, I feel it.
    Again, Thank you Cecelia!!

    • Awwww, well THANK YOU!!! That’s what drew me to romance, the escape. I love that you choose Chief’s over work. LOL It’s the best compliment and I’m so so glad you enjoyed it, you just made my night. Thank you for reading and taking the time to comment. Enjoy those mountains and thanks again for stopping by!

      • Thank you for your warm reply!!! So nice when authors connect with their readers.
        Have a wonderful evening!

  • Adam, definitely and a big YES for Toren. I’d choose a major house, castles can be so drafty. The ladies are both, aces!

Lived in England when I was young (a very !ing time ago) but still have fond memories of the rough coast and a few Major homes we visited.

Love the countryside tbere, it’s intoxicating beautiful and yes, your I ago action can run wild. Look forward to reading b some of your bokms.

    • I hope you like them Nancy! That’s so cool, living in England. I’ve been an Anglophile for as long as I can remember. 😉
